KinnPorsche: The Series, review
Hey everyone, today I'm back with a review.
I spent the last 3 days watching KinnPorsche, which is not new, but finally I managed to start it and I enjoyed it a lot.[Spoiler free]
KinnPorsche: The Series (La Forte)
Plot
The series is a Thai BL mafia drama made of 14 episodes of 1 hour each (or quite).
It follows the events of Kinn, the middle son of the family, and Porsche, a young barman he meets randomly while Kinn runs away from some enemies.
The plot is really captivating and mazy, everything happens fast and the events change in no time, leaving you with no choice but to continue and find out where is the truth of it all. Nothing is obvious and every relation between characters have way more that you can see at first.
Main couples
There are 3 main couples. Two of them are very obvious, the last one (which is also the problematic one) isn't.
The main couple is of course Kinn and Porsche. Their bond is formed gradually. I really appreciated the way it feels extremely realistic. Every action has a consequence and the happy ending never seems close.
The second couple is formed by Kim and Porchay. In contrast to the other couples, this is a cuter ship, full of innocence and misunderstandings. It's a soft love that has difficulties to bloom in a mafia setting.
The last couple, which I won't spoiler since it comes late in the series, is a toxic couple. Nonetheless I appreciated the real effort of the actors to bring realistic emotions on screen and a deep interpretation of their characters.
BL part
Regarding the BL love part, I LOVED IT. This is totally different from the BL dramas you would usually find. Everyone, both actors and staff, made sure to bring the characters as close to reality as possible. And they made it a success. Every one of them has to face many difficulties and you can see their growth throughout the episodes.
Also, the sex scenes are really intimate and well made. You can see in their interviews that they cared for this detail a lot, and it shows clearly in the result.
The gay plot is not cringe nor obvious. For sure the mafia setting had a great impact on it. Of course it isn't the classic comfortable BL story, however it's worth watching for sure.
Triggers
I have to include this paragraph because the series comes packed with some heavy content.
The main triggers are torture, VERY toxic couple, humiliating behaviours, death and guns.
Pros
Talking about other positive aspects I found while watching; action scenes are very well made, the characterisation and interpretations of each actor is deep and studied with care and details, the characters are deeply human and as such, contorted and confused.
There isn't a character who is fully good or fully evil. Every one of them is morally grey and acts as a consequence of the world they live in. I think this is the most important part of it all.
In addition to this, as every other Asian series, there is a lot of added content such as actors interviews, games, behind the scenes and a lot more, which you can find on their official YT channel: Be On Cloud.
It's also worth mentioning that the series has beautiful OSTs. The one I liked most and that often recurs is 'Why don't you stay' sung by Jeff Satur who is Kim's actor. You can find it both in Thai and Eng.
So, what's more? To increase your hype, I leave some of the official posters to let you see how gorgeous each actor is ;).
